A Welcome to Parents

Dear Parent,
Welcome to the Delta Gamma family! We are delighted that your daughter is a newly initiated member of our Fraternity. Founded in 1873, our purpose is to foster high ideals of friendship, social responsibility and character, and we actively support our members’ educational and cultural interests.
Delta Gamma is one of the oldest and largest women’s sororities. To date, over 210,000 Delta Gamma members have been initiated at our collegiate chapters on 147 college campuses across North America. And your daughter’s Delta Gamma sisterhood and support does not end in college; as an alumna member, she will be welcomed into any of our more than 220 alumnae organizations across the U.S., Canada and Great Britain.

The ANCHORA, published continuously since 1884, is the quarterly magazine that members receive for a lifetime. Your daughter’s subscription will be mailed to her home address. We hope that you read it too and enjoy seeing how Delta Gammas “Do Good” all over the world.

Serving people who are visually impaired through Service for Sight has been at the heart of Delta Gamma’s philanthropic mission since 1936. Grants to our four Delta Gamma schools and other organizations that share our mission have totaled more than $3.15 million since the Foundation’s incorporation in 1951. Also, our collegians and alumnae members assist these organizations with precious service hours. In the past 20 years, 1.5 million hours have been logged for Service for Sight! 
We realize that, as a parent, you have important concerns about college life today. Delta Gamma is committed to educating our members and chapters on the effects of alcohol consumption. We increase awareness about hazing and sexual assault prevention through programs like GreekLifeEdu. Delta Gamma also sends yearly video messages and is a financial supporter of two national organizations that fund research on these topics. Additionally, we provide diverse resources for programming in the areas of leadership and character, health and wellness, campus and community involvement, and career and life skills through our member development program – Anchors of Discovery.
